Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital was founded in 1971 when the government imposes a merge to hospitals Maisonneuve and Saint-Joseph de Rosemont in order to better serve the east of the city.
On one hand Saint-Joseph de Rosemont Hospital was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1950, on the other side, Maisonneuve Hospital was founded in 1954 by the Gray Nuns.
The building has a St. Andrew. cross shape.
The Gray Nuns religious community was established in 1737 by Marguerite d'Youville.
