Montreal Biodome

fact_histo

Built for Montreal’s 1976 Olympic Games, this building was originally a velodrome with one of the best tracks in North America. Under the leadership of Mr. Bourque, then at the head of the botanical garden, the project takes shape: To regroup under one roof four ecosystems the most realistic and quite different between them: Arctic, Laurentian forest, Tropical and Saint-Laurent river ecosystem. Finally the Biodome of Montreal opens its doors in 1992.

15 years later this former velodrome has become a major touristic attraction no one can’t miss in Montreal. Located at 4777, avenue Pierre De Coubertin, it is also easily accessible from Viau metro station. It is now included with other museums in the thematic “Nature museums of Montreal”.
