For more than 100 years, municipal bills have come to limit the height of Montreal’s skyscrapers. The first one limited to 10 floors and was in place until in the Thirties. Then a new bill stopped to 33 floors with floor in stairway for levels higher than 10 (this bill explains the shapes of the Bell building Bell, Aldred Building and the Royal Bank Building).
The last bill still in place and says that Mont-Royal is the ultimate limits for Montreal Skyscrapers. This one is nearly reached with 10 meters near, by the 1000 de la Gauchetière.
