Montreal was established under French regime in 1642 but did not stay under French power for a long time: less than 120 years. From this short period remain some buildings to testify. This is too little to show us what Montréal really looked like at this time. Many buildings were destroyed whereas Montreal became the economic center of Canada. Montreal of this time (Old Montreal) knew an incredible concentration of its urban grid.
The fact that Montreal was suddenly separate from his motherland explains many buildings built after the conquest with a very similar architecture has the one under the French regime.
Our list is not complete because it misses approximately ten buildings we will try to photograph in years to come.
