History and facts about this building

Héritage Montréal, an organism dedicated to the protection of Montreal's heritage has placed this building in its category "emblematic sites threatened" in 2008.

In 2008, City of Montreal announced the upcoming construction of a new planetarium near the Olympic Stadium. The fate of this building is uncertain. Demolition or conversion? Opinions are divided.

Funded in part by the old brewery Dow, the Montreal Planetarium was inaugurated in 1966 by Mayor Jean Drapeau.
